We only spent a quick weekend in Washington DC because Matt had to go up for work on a Friday, We thought since this was perfect timing with a weekend, why not make one out of it! But it was FREEZING that weekend – at least for us being used to warmer weather. With the wind it was very hard to stop and take pictures without feeling like our fingers and toes were going to fall off. We actually jumped from museum to art gallery to museum to get out of the cold. So I wanted to share some pictures we grabbed and some advice for a quick weekend!
The first time we visited DC we stayed in Downtown. At the beautiful Fairmont Washington DC. If you have the costs to stay in Downtown, we highly recommend it! But another awesome spot we discovered was the U Street Corridor! It is surrounded by bars, restaurants, shopping and quick access to the metro to go a few stops to all the sights (it was $2.00 a ride on the weekend!).
Some of the awesome museums and galleries we checked out or heard were highly recommended: The National Museum of Natural History, The Renwick Museum, The National Museum of American History, The International Spy Museum (great for kids!) and The National Gallery of Art.
We tried a couple restaurants but the most funky one we recommend is GCDC – which is a Grilled Cheese bar! It was very hip and delicious.
