Capital Luxury at the Fairmont Washington DC

I have been to almost 20 countries and almost half of the 50 states; including the two non-continental ones. But one place I have never gone, though I grew up only a 4.5 hour drive away from, is Washington, DC. In fact, I’ve driven by the city and seen some of the national monuments on my way south down I-95, always wanting to stop in to explore the capital of my home country, but never getting the chance to.

Therefore, when finally deciding to make my way here for my first ever visit, I had to make sure  I did it right. And one of the most important parts of actually experiencing a new place, is where you stay. I always preach to people that if you visit a beautiful, new, thrilling location, but the place you choose to sleep and eat at isn’t just as beautiful, new and thrilling, then you won’t get the full experience.

If you want to stay in a hotel fit for a president, you must check out The Fairmont – Washington DC.

Prime Location

When researching areas of DC as a first-timer, it became so confusing as to which area to stay. There are so many! Well let me help you out: The Fairmont is in the PERFECT location! And I honestly didn’t know this until I tried exploring DC only by foot from our hotel. It is directly in between the hip, boutique filled, charleston-esque Georgetown area, the historic yet modern Dupont circle, the site-seeing lovers dream of the national mall and the thriving, lively start of downtown. We did get an uber to go a little further than downtown but it was only 7$!

Luxury Rooms

After driving for 6.5 hours in traffic, there’s something to be said about where you drop your bags to stay the night. And upon entering the hotel room I was overwhelmed with feeling how lucky am I to be staying in a place like this! A king size bed, an office area (essential for editing pictures), an exquisite balcony, all the outlets you could need and a bathroom with more counter space than you would need. Upon waking up after the first night Matt said, “that was the most comfortable bed I”ve ver slept in.”

Eat, Drink and Be Comfortable

All I have to say is 4 words: 24 hour room service. With an absolutely delicious menu! We tried the cheese platter and one of their flatbread pizzas, and we could’ve probably had 5 more of each. Or if we had time, the rest of the menu!

As for the drinks. Yum, Yum, Yummy! They have a full list of specialty cocktails to choose from and you can tell the bartenders are no beginners. Made with the elegance of the capital, these drinks danced on our tastebuds and warmed our tummys.

We were able to use the  full stocked gym and swam laps in their lap pool. They don’t overlook any part of your stay. But really one of the best parts is the aesthetics of the hotel. They spent over $27 million to renovate every aspect of this hotel to make it fit for a true capital experience. Check out The Fairmont Washington DC and book your stay on your next trip!

Disclosure: We were provided a discount stay with The Fairmont Washington DC and were graciously provided some amenities during our stay for an honest review. As always, some expenses and all opinions are my own.

Looks like a great hotel. Loved the lobby decoration, particularly that original console. Great post!
